Prince William Accused of Racism Hypocrisy by Critics

Earlier this month Prince William Duke of Cambridge attended the annual Tusk Awards in London, UK. The Prince has been Royal Patron to Tusk since 2005 and helped establish the awards in 2013. The Awards ceremony was held in person at BFI Southbank to honor Africa's notable leaders at the forefront of protecting African wildlife. Africa has been hit especially hard by the pandemic.
Charlie Mayhew, CEO of Tusk Trust, stated; "Covid-19 has been particularly devastating to the economies of Africa, where international travel restrictions have brought the wildlife and tourism industries to their knees."  Five of Africa's conservationists were presented with the Tusk Award #foralltheydo to advance conservation.

2021 Winners and Finalists:

1. Prince William Award for Conservation in Africa: Simson Uri-Khob, Namibia

2. Tusk Wildlife Ranger Award: Suleiman Saidu, Nigeria

3. Tusk Award for Conservation in Africa: Julie Razafimanahaka, Madagascar

4. Finalist: Dr. Caleb Ofori-Boateng, Ghana

5. Finalist: Rachel Ikemeh, Nigeria

The father of three is quoted as saying "The increasing pressure on Africa's wildlife and wild spaces as a result of human population presents a huge challenge for conservationists, as it does the world over.” Internet commentators and news media dragged the Princes’ comments on social media calling out hypocrisy and inaccuracies in the statements.
